Three friends, three years: In January 2021, we hit the gas and VanVan took off. Soon, we were speeding along the fast lane and our VanVans rolling across Europe. With a mix of big and small camper fans, we embarked on this journey –and we wouldn’t want to miss a single turn. But as we round out our fourth season, we're bringing things to a halt by year's end.
For three years, we burned the midnight oil and (often alongside our regular day jobs) gave it all for our VanVan vision. At the beginning of this year, as planned from the start, the three of us sat down and took stock. The logical conclusion: We’re closing down, as the effort is simply too much for us.
Despite our full commitment and having a great product, it was like trying to move a mountain –no path was found to significantly expand the VanVan fleet and to hire substantially more staff. Yet, those were the prerequisites for the next stage (where we might have finally drawn a salary). Just raise the prices? That was out of the question. We always prioritized making the VanVan adventure accessible to as many people as possible, at any time they wished –with kids, dogs, and surfboards in tow. Our goal was to provide the best quality at a fair price. And we did just that, without compromise.
It was a great journey, and we’re stopping while it’s still fun. Time for a final bye-bye, time for our families, time for new paths and projects. But it’s not done yet. Until and including October 2024, you can still book and head to your most beautiful destinations with a fully equipped VanVan. We look forward to every booking. Last chance. Ever!
